Newly appointed CTLA President shares her plans for Association for the coming year

She has been recognized by Connecticut Magazine as a “Super Lawyer” and is named to the Connecticut Law Tribune’s Personal Injury Hall of Fame and is a Fellow of the American Bar Association. Now, Attorney Marisa Bellair can add President of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) to her list of accomplishments. A Principal with LTKE Law in New Haven, Attorney Bellair recently received the gavel for the honor from outgoing President Timothy O’Keefe at the CTLA Annual Meeting on June 12th.

During her acceptance speech Bellair said, “My goal in the coming year is to continue to pursue and defend those initiatives that are so important to our organization, our clients, and our society.” Bellair added, “We will ensure that this organization remains true to its mission: Trial lawyers protecting individual rights through fair laws and access to justice.” She said the CTLA is planning unparalleled seminars that will make for better practitioners. She also said their legislative team will stay busy identifying initiatives to propose and to counter in the coming year. She promised that the organization will continue its charitable efforts for Special Olympics and will hold other charitable fundraisers.

 
Bellair, herself, has served as a co-chair and has been involved with various fundraisers sponsored by CTLA, which have raised funds for Habitat for Humanity, the Newtown Memorial Fund, Wounded Warrior Project, and the Connecticut Cancer Foundation.

The Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association is a nonprofit professional association dedicated to creating and maintaining a more just society by preserving individual rights within the justice system. They are a fellowship of more than 1,300 of Connecticut’s most accomplished and active lawyers who are interested in protecting plaintiffs’ rights and becoming better trial lawyers.

Bellair, a graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law, in becoming the President of CTLA said she is both humbled and honored by the opportunity and never imagined that back in 2009 when she first became a member of the CTLA that she would one day be its President. The 65th President of the CTLA thanked the women who preceded her and paved the way, her family, her LTKE Law firm, fellow members, and CTLA staff for the contributions to the association’s mission.
