LTKE Law Mourns the Passing of Steven I. Traub
It is with great sadness that the law firm of Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante announces the passing of one of its name partners, Stephen I. Traub. Steve died Wednesday with his family by his side.
A member of LTKE Law from 1960 through 2000, Steve was a pioneer in plaintiffs’ medical malpractice litigation. His attention to detail reverberated in both the way he lived his life and the way he handled his cases. He had many notable achievements throughout his long and storied career, but perhaps the one he was most proud of was his Connecticut Supreme Court victory which allowed consortium damages to be recovered in a non-death case for the first time in our state. This decision paved the way for other practitioners to recover a class of damages that had never before been recognized.
Steve’s commitment to the legal profession was as strong as his commitment to his clients. Steve was a past president of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) and a member of its Board of Governors. He was part of many continuing legal education seminars for the CTLA. Steve was also a past president of the New Haven County Bar Association, served as Milford’s Town Counsel, and also as a chairman of the Judicial Selection Commission.
Described by many as dapper, sophisticated, and the epitome of class, Steve was a gentleman in every sense of the word. A world traveler, Steve visited Antarctica, traveled to Alaska where he took a dog sled ride over the Iditarod trail, enjoyed African safaris, and trips to Europe to name a few. He also enjoyed his sailboat and piloting planes. A graduate of Hopkins School, Steve’s allegiance to New Haven was strong. He was particularly proud of his military service having served his country in Korea as a tank commander. He leaves behind four wonderful children, of whom he was immensely proud.
We at LTKE Law are immensely proud of the legacy that Steve Traub created. He will be sorely missed.
